Update on Ballard Standoff

On 5/3/13 the Bates County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in Ballard Mo.  On arrival the Deputies made contact with a female victim that had apparent injuries.  The female advised the deputy that the male had barricaded himself in the house and was threatening to hurt anyone who entered.  The subject had been drinking and taking medication.

The Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team was called to the scene.  The Response Team consists of tactical officers and a crisis negotiation team.  A perimeter was established and communication with the subject was attempted.  After several hours of attempting to make contact, fears were elevated that maybe the subject was unconscious from the mix of pills and alcohol.  Entry was made into the residence where tactical officers found the subject crouched into the corner holding two knives.  Officers were able to disarm the subject and subdue him without further incident.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The subject was identified as Fred Lunde, 2/15/66, of Ballard.  Lunde was transported to the Hospital for evaluation and then taken to the Bates County Jail.  Lunde was charged with Domestic Assault with injury and Resist Arrest.  Bond was set at $15,000 Cash or Surety.
