Weather Update: Strong - Severe Storms Possible This Weekend


Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across southeast Nebraska and southern Iowa this afternoon, and will gradually spread into northern Missouri and northeast Kansas this evening through tonight. A few storms could become strong to severe, and the strongest storms may be capable of producing large hail or strong winds. The severe weather threat will spread southward on Sunday to areas ...mainly along and southeast of a line from the KC metro through Kirksville. Strong to severe storms are possible from the early afternoon through evening hours on Sunday, with both large hail and damaging winds possible. A widespread rainfall of 1-2" is also expected through early Monday.

Today Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Windy, with a south wind 16 to 21 mph increasing to 29 to 34 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.

Tonight A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Windy, with a south southwest wind 26 to 31 mph becoming light south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
