Robert Edward Lee “Bobby” Swope
Robert Edward Lee “Bobby” Swope of Cuba, Missouri was born December 24, 1961 at Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Charles L. “Chuck” and Melba (Nee: Smith) Swope and left from this life on Monday, September 22, 2014 in Pulaski County at the age of 52 years.

Bobby grew up on the RSR Ranch near Tarkio, Missouri. He attended all twelve years of school at Tarkio, Missouri and graduated in 1979. He attended the State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri for two years on a Rodeo Scholarship and then he transferred to and graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1984 with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science.

He worked on a ranch in Texas after graduation and then spent several years working at the Supreme Feeders Cattle Feed Lot near Liberal, Kansas. After returning to Missouri, he worked several years as a Load out Foreman at the Joplin Regional Stock Yards in Joplin, Missouri. The last five years or more he had worked for the EDP Corp at Fort Leonard Wood and was working there at the time of his death.

Bobby was a lifetime cowboy and a musician. He won his first money at a rodeo when he was 3 years old. He was mainly a calf roper and a team roper, but he also rode bareback in the Junior and High School Rodeos. He was the All Around Champion of the Missouri High School Rodeo Association in 1979. He qualified for the National High School Rodeo Final all four years he was in high school. He also qualified two years for the National Feedlot Cowboy Association National Finals in Elko, Nevada.

He played drums and sang with many Country and Western bands in Texas, Kansas and the Joplin area and around Cuba.

He was an extremely good horseman and had won over forty trophy buckles plus trophy saddles for calf roping and team roping. He was a hard worker and gave his all too every job he held. He was a son his parents could be proud of.

Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving parents Chuck and Melba Swope of Cuba, brother Dr. K.C. and wife Dr. Melanie Swope of Cuba, one nephew Jared and wife Emily Swope of St. Louis, one niece, Erin Swope of Columbia, Missouri, one foster brother Scott and wife Rosa Swope of Neosho, Missouri, one uncle Leslie and wife Sue Swope of Portland, Oregon, two aunts Florence Swope Fritts of Nevada, Missouri and Ruby Smith Mayden of Carrollton, Missouri plus many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 from 7:00 till 9:00 PM at the Mizell Funeral Home, 904 W Washington, Cuba, Missouri.

A Celebration of Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 415 W School Street, Cuba, with Father Rich Boever as celebrant.

Interment and prayers will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association, ATTN: Justin Cowboys Crisis Fund, 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919 in Bobby’s memory.

The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Swope family.
