Nevada Police Department: Burglary Investigation Complete

Lavern S Hill Jr.
The Nevada Police Department would like to announce that we have concluded an investigation of a burglary case that occurred in the area of the 1200 block of N. Elm St. on April 9th, 2015. A report was received by police alleging that a known Probation and Parole absconder had unlawfully entered the home of a former domestic partner, holding her against her will and threatening injury. The victim was able to escape the confinement of the residence, running to a neighbor's home and the neighbor assisted in calling Nevada Police.

Multiple patrol officers and detectives responded to the scene to find that the suspect had fled the scene to avoid police contact. The suspect was identified as 44 year old, Lavern S Hill Jr.

Investigators from the Nevada Police Dept, and the VCSO began developing investigative leads in hopes to affect an arrest. All regional law enforcement agencies were notified of the suspects fugitive status on April 14th.

Hill was taken into custody by Cedar County law enforcement. He has since been returned to the Vernon County Jail where he is being held without bond on the parole violation. The Vernon County Associate Circuit Court has also filed charges for Burglary, and False Imprisonment, and Property Damage.

Citizens are encouraged to contact the Nevada Police Dept. if they have any information that would help combat crime.
