Nevada Police Make Arrests in Auto Theft

The Nevada Police report that they have concluded an investigation resulting in an auto theft report from a local car dealership located in the 100 block of E. Atlantic. Investigating officers determined that two suspects searched the lot for unlocked cars and located a set of cars keys which led to the theft of a 2006 Honda.

A short time later, the Nevada Police observed the vehicle driven in an erratic manner and attempted to execute a traffic stop. The car sped off and both the passenger and driver abandoned the car and fled on foot, leaving the unattended car to crash. 

A subsequent search by law enforcement was conducted to avail.
Police recovered the damaged stolen car, processed it for evidence and later returned the vehicle to the owner.

Relying on a tip from the community, police developed a lead on two suspects in this auto theft case.
Arrested by the Nevada Police and charged as follows:

1. Barryn Reign McDonnell – a 17 year old Nevada resident. Warrants issued by the Vernon County Associate Court include:
a. Leaving the Scene of an Accident
b. Property Damage 2nd Degree
c. Tampering w/ a Motor Vehicle
d. Resisting Arrest by Fleeing
McDonnell was booked into the Vernon County Jail and held on $5,500 Cash or surety bond.

2. William R. Howard III – an 18 year old Nebraska resident
a. Leaving the Scene of an Accident
b. Property Damage 2nd Degree
c. Tampering w/ a Motor Vehicle
d. Resisting Arrest by Fleeing

Howard was booked into the Vernon County Jail and held on $6,000 Cash or surety bond.
