Pavement Sealing Work Scheduled for Various Routes In Barton, Bates, Henry & Vernon Counties Beginning Week of July 27

MoDOT Southwest District - Five state routes -in Barton, Bates, Henry and Vernon counties - are scheduled to be sealed with a mixture of rock and oil beginning the week of July 27, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
Tentative schedule:
  • July 27-31: Missouri Route 43 between U.S. Route 160 near Liberal and U.S. Route 54 in Nevada
  • August 3-7: Vernon County Route BB south of Nevada
  • August 10-14: U.S. Route 52 between Interstate 49 and Bates County Route BB
  • August 24-28: Missouri Route 18 between the Bates/Henry county line and the city limits of Clinton
Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.
Drivers can expect one-lane traffic with flaggers and pilot vehicles directing them through the work zone.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed when traveling over recently-sealed sections of highways.

A chip-seal is planned for these roads as an economical way to maintain and preserve the roadway. The treatments keep a road from deteriorating and will extend its life.

Project information:
  • Contractor: Hutchens Construction, Cassville
  • Total cost: $1.1 million
  • Completion date: September 4, 2015
