Obituary - Joseph S. Pike

Joseph S. Pike, 81, Nevada, MO departed this life on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Joe was born October 8, 1934 in Milo, MO to Lester DeWitt and Jeanette Lynn (Pace) Pike.

Joe was born Milo and raised in the Ellis area in Vernon County. He attended school in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. Following high school Joe served in the United States Army for two years, being stationed in Germany from 1955-1957. Upon his return to Nevada he began employment at the Nevada State Hospital where he continued to work for over 30 years until his retirement. Joe loved fishing, he also loved animals and nature, and being outdoors.

Survivors include his children, Mary Jo Shouse and her husband Gary, Spearville, KS, Joe Pike and his wife Tracy, Nevada, Matt Pike and his wife Jamie, Nevada, and Jeanie Masters, Nevada; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Tandy Pike, Sheldon, and Tony Pike, Sr., Compton Junction; three sisters, Grace Colvin, Nevada, Jewell Williams, Bronaugh, and Alice Rammage, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lester, and one sister, Jean Gicante.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the funeral home.
