Opal “Ruth” Baynes
Opal “Ruth” Baynes, age 104, of Nevada, MO, passed away peacefully early Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada. Ruth was born on September 2, 1911, in Hartville, MO, to the late David C. and Nancy Isabel (Roberts) Carter. She married Raymond C. Baynes on February 11, 1933, in Ft. Scott KS, and he preceded her in death on December 19, 1980.

Ruth worked as an LPN and supervisor in the Women’s Infirmary at Nevada State Hospital #3, retiring after 26 years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and gardening. She liked to travel and a trip to Israel was a highlight in her life. Ruth loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She also loved the Lord and was a long time member of the Nevada Church of the Nazarene and served on the parish and worship committee several years.

Survivors include one son, Richard Baynes, Nevada, and one daughter, Kay Coiner and husband Larry, Neosho, MO; two grandsons, Brian Coiner, Neosho, and Eric Coiner and wife Sara, Olathe, KS; two great-grandsons, Aidan Coiner and Liam Coiner and one great-granddaughter, Emma, all of Olathe; special friend, Virginia Hornecker; and several nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, Russell, Ruel, Ralph, Raymer and Robert and two sisters, Rhuie Hickman and Ruby McEachern.

Graveside services for Ruth are planned at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, MO with Rev. Joshua Griffith officiating. Friends may call now and until one hour prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Nevada Church of the Nazarene in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
