Obituary - Edward Denny David

Edward Denny David, 72, of Nevada, MO was called home to Jesus on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Freemen Health System in Joplin, MO. He was born on December 17, 1943 in Vernon County, MO to Homer E. and Martha E. (Jeans) David. He was married to Joy Mitchem then later married Nancy Jo Barber on October 3, 1981 and she survives of the home. 

Denny graduated from Nevada High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by the Nevada Fire Department from 1967 and retired as a Captain in 1999.

He liked playing minor league softball in his younger years. Denny loved the Lord and his family, and enjoyed cooking, golf and fishing. He loved to laugh and was a good hearted prankster and was known for having a kind soul and a great sense of humor.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one daughter Lisa Navaar in 2001, one brother Bobby David, one son-in-law Remy Mejia, and one grandson Benny Mejia. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Amanda Chick (Christopher) of Smithville, MO; two daughters from his previous marriage, Shelly Mejia and Nichole David, both of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Ember Chick, Trevor Farnham, Christopher Shrimplin, Holly Hallam, and Amy Williams; great-grandchildren, Hudson and William Shrimplin, Izabella and Isaac Hallam, and Paige and Timothy Williams; one sister, Brenda Seaver (Lynn) and one brother, Rick David, both of Nevada; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Nevada with Pastor David Rorabaugh officiating. Committal will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the funeral home.
