Obituary - Roy VanWinkle


Roy VanWinkle, age 86 years, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, July 28, 2016. 

No visitation. Interment will follow in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.

Roy was born March 29, 1930 in Clinton, Missouri the son of Robert Lee and Zala (Stewart) VanWinkle. He was the youngest of four children.

On March 14, 1949 he married LaVonne (Teets) Miller. They had two daughters, Donna Jo and Darla Sue. Roy was a farmer and proud of it. He raised many hogs, a few cattle, and all the grain needed to feed them. He was a hard working man with "Teets" his wife at his side. After moving to Clinton they acquired several rental properties that kept him busy. He had a lot of fun pulling his tractor, and eventually won his goal of winning at the State Fair. Roy also loved to fish, visit with his friends, and he especially liked to play cards.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, LaVonne (Teets) VanWinkle; parents, Robert Lee and Zala VanWinkle, a brother, Robert VanWinkle, and two sisters, Viola Richeson and Violet Warden.

He is survived by two daughters, Donna Breshears (Lonnie) and Darla VanWinkle both of Clinton, MO, one grandson, Sean Elges of Clinton, MO, one granddaughter, Brandi Breshears (Seth) of Lee's Summit, MO, 3 great-grandkids; Andrea Custer (Shawn) of Clinton, MO, Haley Elges of Wentzville, MO, and Logan Elges of Osceola, MO, 3 great great-grandkids; Ryan Custer, Steven Custer, and Merrick Custer, as well as his best neighbor ever, Brett Loman.

Services have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
