Doris Jean Allen was born November 28, 1930 in New Lancaster, Kansas to Harold and Ruth Graham Hoover. She grew up in the New Lancaster area attending grade school and then graduating from La Cygne High School in 1948. Doris then attended the Ursuline Academy in Paola, Kansas. She taught school for a short time, until she was united in marriage to George William Allen on February 27, 1949.

Doris began her work as a homemaker and later worked as a Federal Civil Service Manager until her retirement. Doris’s greatest love in life was her family. She and her husband Bill were dedicated to supporting and attending every event their children and grandchildren were involved in. A lot of times being the first to arrive. As their family grew, so did their involvement. They always enjoyed the Miami County Fair and sporting events. After Bill’s passing in 2007 Doris continued this tradition. Doris enjoyed her coffee groups, she loved to travel and meet new people, but her heart was always at her home on the farm. She will be forever missed by her loving family and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Allen, and a brother Dale Hoover. She is survived by her daughter Linda Brown and Husband Ron of Mulvane, KS, son Rick Allen and wife Connie of Louisburg, KS, son Jake Allen and his wife Patricia of Louisburg, KS, son Bob Allen and wife Teresa of Osawatomie, KS, grandchildren, Jimmy Allen, Jeff Allen, Mike Allen, Amy Allen, Melissa White, April Owens, Holly Allen, and Robin Allen, 24 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Thelma Donley of South Haven, Ks and Betty Boyd of Overland Park, KS, along with extended family members and many dear friends.
