Arrest made in Dexel Area

Jason L. Cook
On September 21, 2016 the Bates County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip of a suspicious vehicle that was parked in the ditch, with the subject smoking something, at the intersection of County Road 16002 and State Line Road in Drexel, MO.

Upon the Deputy’s arrival he made contact with the driver identified as Jason L. Cook (DOB 4/20/1985). Cook advised the Deputy that he had pulled over to the side of the road to text someone because he did not like to text and drive.

The Deputy had Dispatch run Cook through MULES to check for any wants or warrants. Dispatched advised the Deputy that Cook had 2 warrants, one out of Butler County and one out of Ripley County. The warrant from Butler County was extraditable but the warrant from Ripley County was not. The Butler County warrant was for Operating a Vehicle on a Highway without a valid license. The bond was $1000.00 cash or surety.

Cook was transported to the Bates County Jail where he was able to bond out on the warrant.
