Obituary - Revay Brannan


Revay Brannan, age 96, a former resident of Cavalry Crossing Apartments in Ft. Scott, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, Missouri. She was born November 23, 1919, in Crawford County, Kansas, the daughter of William Alvin Thomas and Hettie Edna Conrad Thomas. Revay graduated from the Nevada High School with the Class of 1939. 

She married George Frank Brannan on January 14, 1940. Revay had worked at Citizens National Bank for ten yearsand later for the City State Bank for sixteen years. She later worked for a time at Fort Scott Community College. 

She was a member of the Life Point Assembly of God. She was also a member of the Glenwood Club, the Thrift Circle and the Jolly Circle Club. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, sewing and crocheting.

Survivors include her three sons, Floyd Brannan and wife, Dixie, of Moundville, Missouri, Erwin Brannan and wife, Gladys and Rick Brannan and wife, Laurie, all of Bronaugh, Missouri; five grandchildren, Greg Brannan and wife, Cindy, Dana Lamb and husband, Doug, all of Nevada, Missouri, Kim Lawson and husband, David, of Pittsburg, Kansas, Andy Brannan and wife, Kelli, of Sheldon, Missouri and Angela Berlekamp and husband, Bobby, of Lockwood, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren as well as several step-great and step-great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Ralph Thomas and wife, Merlyn, of Petaluma, California; two sisters, Thelma Chesnut, and Dottie Stratton and husband, Bob, all of Redding, California and a sister-in-law, Billie Sue Thomas, of Elgin, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews including Fred Brannan, of Ft. Scott. Her husband, George Brannan, preceded her in death on September 23, 1992. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Franklin Thomas, Norman Thomas and T. J. Thomas.

Rev. Steve Bell will conduct funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 17th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
