Obituary - Walter R. O’Steen, Jr.

Walter R. O’Steen, Jr., 87, St. Francis, WI, formerly of the Independence, MO area, passed from this life on Friday, October 14, 2016. Walter was born February 24, 1929 in Monett, AR to Walter R. O’Steen, Sr. and Eunice (Hill) O’Steen. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Moseley on March 25, 1950 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1996.

Walter was born in Arkansas and lived there for a time before moving with his family to the Kansas City area. He attended school there and later graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO. Following high school he began working for American Motors where he continued to work for 39 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Sherry Filtz (Dan), Oak Creek, WI; grandchildren, Chris Coultas (Alexandria), Shelly Coultas (Jamie); great-grandchildren, Marissa Coultas, Shelby Coultas, John Scott Gillette, Cadence Coultas, Madison Six, Shauna Six. In addition to his wife Shirley, he was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Graveside services will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.
