Arrest made in Hume area

On 11-23-2016 Bates County Deputies received a report of a theft in the Hume area. The victim stated that his hunting gear had been stolen from the bed of his truck. The victim also stated that he had received information from an individual who stated that the gear was seen at a subject’s residence also in the Hume area.


The Deputy then made contact with the suspect at his residence and gained consent to search the residence for the stolen items. During the search for the items, the Deputy located what appeared to be a knife matching the description of the victim’s stolen knife. The deputy then placed the subject under arrest. The suspect later admitted to stealing the hunting gear and showed the Deputy where the bag containing the items could be found. The bag with the stolen items was located at the suspect’s residence.


The suspect identified as Richard Perkins (DOB 5/6/91) was transported to the Bates County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold. He was charged with Theft less than $500.00. His bond was set at $2500.00 10% with no surety allowed.
