Woman arrested following Amber Alert yesterday

Wilson
Following an Amber Alert that went out Monday, a woman has been arrested in connection to the abduction of her two children. Carmelita Wilson, 39, allegedly took Gabriel B. Longley-Wilson, 9, and Serenity D. Longley-Wilson, 7 unlawfully and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.

The incident began when the Benton County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched Monday evening to a report of a woman found severely beaten and stabbed in a roadway north of Warsaw. The woman has been identified as the grandmother of the children, who has legal custody of them as well.

Authorities then reasoned that the children were taken by
Carmelita Wilson and the Amber Alert went out later in the evening. Following a minor traffic incident, Wilson was arrested and the children were taken into protective custody by the Department of Children's Services.

Wilson is currently in the Benton County Jail facing charges of first degree assault, armed criminal action and first degree tampering. Additional charges are pending at this time.
