Man struck by plane in rural Harrisonville

On June 8th a deputy from the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to the 17000 block of East 289th Street near Harrisonville regarding a subject that was struck by a fixed wing single-engine airplane. The subject was transported from the scene by Life Flight Eagle.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, identified as David R. Toliver, was taking pictures of his friend’s plane when he was hit by the left wing of the plane on a private grass airstrip.
The plane was a 1972 Piper. A deputy spoke with the owner of the airplane, Travis Hayes, who said that he was taxiing by the victim after landing on the grass runway.
Mr. Hayes told a deputy that after passing Toliver he couldn't see where he had went, so he turned the plane around and saw Toliver on the ground.
The Cass County sheriff’s office said the FAA is investigating the incident.
