Update: Two injured in accident that shut down I-49 last night

On 6/23/17 around 9:35pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and Rich Hill Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident in the Southbound Lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 117.6 which is south of Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2013 Chevrolet driven by 54 year old Terrence J. Schwind of Boscobel, Wisconsin struck the 2007 Freightliner driven by 74 year old Glenn D. Rice of Centralia, Missouri forcing both vehicles off the right side of the roadway.

Mr. Schwind and Mr. Rice both sustained serious injuries in this accident and both were transported by Med-Flight to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri for treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Towing and J's Southland Tow.
