Obituary - Pamela Sue Long

 Pamela Sue Long 
Pamela Sue Long, 72, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Moore Few Care Center in Nevada. Pam was born March 5, 1945 in Sedalia, Mo., the daughter of Bob and Maurine (Ridgeway) Long. As a young girl Pam was Baptized and a member of First Christian Church in Sedalia, where the family attended for many years.

Pam graduated from Smith Cotton High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Future Homemakers’ of America and a member of the National Forensic League. As a member of the Tanglenook 4-H Pam served as president and also served as secretary of the Pettis County 4H Council. She was a 4-H delegate to the American Royal in 1962 and was 4-H County Metal winner in foods and clothing. She also won the Missouri 4-H Key Award that same year.

These early accomplishments led to her career as a Home Economics teacher at Marysville Public School in Marysville, Mi. for many years until her retirement. Pam taught in Marysville but lived in nearby Port Huron, Mi. where she enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and gathering with her friends.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Steve Long and wife Barbara of Nevada. Niece Kindra Smith and husband Kelly of Nevada, their children; Silas, Emma, Grace, Ellie and Lindy Smith. Niece Amy Fisher and husband Justin of Ft. Scott, Ks., their children; Blaine, Jozie and Junie. Nephew Dr. Zack Long and wife Laurie of Pittsburgh, Ks., their children; Laikyn, Kayden and Drew. Niece Lindsay Jackson and husband Dr. Travis of Nevada, their children; Hailey, Lanie, Will, and Palmer, and many special friends at Moore Few Care Center.

Services will be Monday July 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with visitation from 1:00 pm until service time. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
