On 6/30/17 around 10:42pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies and the Butler Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident in the Northbound Lanes of I-49 at Mile Marker 127.4 south of Butler.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 23 year old Landon E. Jacobs of Butler, Missouri was traveling Northbound when the vehicle began to travel into the left lane of traffic and struck the 2008 Dodge Ram driven by 62 year old Alton L. McCain of Lee's Ville, Louisiana.

The Malibu spun out of control and traveled off the right side of the roadway before coming to rest facing North. The Dodge truck traveled off the left side of the roadway, crossed the median and began traveling into the Southbound lane of traffic before coming to final rest facing west.

Mr. Jacobs sustained minor injuries in this accident but he refused medical treatment at the scene.

Both vehicles received moderate damages and the Impala was towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Butler, Missouri
