Death Investigation Closed in Cass County

CASS CO. – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has closed this case regarding the death of Vincent J. Royal.  A report received from the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office indicates that Mr. Royal died as a result of acute methamphetamine intoxication and has listed the official manner of death as “accident”.  At the time of the autopsy Mr. Royal had a methamphetamine blood content of 13,571 ng/mL.

CASS CO – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body of a male found in a farm field near E. 278th and State Route DD as Vincent J. Royal 36, of Independence, Missouri.

Investigators believe that Mr. Royal was an occupant in a vehicle that fled from deputies on April 4, 2017. The vehicle pursuit began around 1:00 am north of Peculiar on I-49.  The driver lost control and crashed in the area at E. 275th and Hayden Bridge Rd outside of Harrisonville.  The driver was immediately taken into custody at the scene.  Several deputies and a K9 Unit searched the area for Mr. Royal however they did not locate him.

The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is awaiting test results in 6-8 weeks and have not released a cause of death.

(04/19/17) CASS CO – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office receive a call on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. of a body found in a farm field located on E. 278th near State Route DD in rural Harrisonville.  Investigators recovered the body of an unidentified male late last night.

A search crew is on scene today canvassing the area for evidence and information related to the incident.  No information regarding the cause of death or the description of the victim is available for release.  There is currently no indication of foul play.

No further information is being released at this time.
