Two men and two women from Cass County are facing charges after the recovery of a jet ski on a trailer stolen from a residence on Highway O in the Laurie area. The theft followed two other minor theft incidences at nearby gas stations, according to police.
A press release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office stated that the Jiffy Stop gas station at 1002 Highway O in Laurie reported the theft of two cartons of Marlboro cigarettes by the occupants of a yellow Dodge truck with a black stripe on the back around 9:33 a.m. Aug. 3. Shortly thereafter, around 9:40 a.m., the Lake Oasis gas station at 114 N. Main St. (Highway 5), Laurie, reported the theft of approximately $50 in gas by the occupants of a yellow Dodge truck.
But the yellow truck wasn’t done by a long shot.
Around 10:35 a.m., a residence of the 1500 block of Highway O reported the theft of a jet ski and trailer by the occupants of a yellow Dodge truck.
It didn’t last for long though. At approximately 10:45 a.m., the jet ski and trailer were located on Highway 135 in Morgan County. And at approximately 11 a.m., officers located the yellow Dodge truck on Deer Ridge Road off of Highway 135 in Morgan County.
The occupants of the yellow Dodge truck were taken into custody and the pursuant investigation led to the following charges:
