Update: Man accused of killing Clinton Police Officer now in the Henry County Jail

The man suspected of shooting and killing Clinton Police Officer Gary Michael during a traffic stop on Sunday evening is out of the hospital and behind bars at the Henry County Jail.

Ian McCarthy 39 of Clinton, Missouri was charged with 1.) Murder 2.) Armed Criminal Action in the shooting death of Gary Michael.

A manhunt for the suspect lasted 2 days and had over 100 law enforcement officers involved. He was finally captured walking down U Highway which is around 1 mile south of Bucksaw Marina on Tuesday evening around 6:15pm.

McCarthy was not armed, investigators still need to locate the weapon used in shooting that killed Officer Michael.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating whether the suspect had any help and how he managed to evade capture. McCarthy did suffer a gunshot injury on Sunday, it's not been said where he was struck. He was being treated at a Kansas City hospital, before being booked into the Henry County Jail at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday.
