Dog Attack in Appleton City

On Feb. 21, a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to South Burdette Street in Appleton City regarding an animal complaint.

Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with Aaron Mullen, who stated that two dogs killed one of their goats and injured another one. Mullen explained a white pit bull and a dark colored unknown type of dog, came onto their property, broke through the fence, and attacked their pygmy goats. As a result, one female died and another female was seriously injured. Mullen stated he did not know who owned the dogs.

While the deputy was looking at the goats, the deputy was handed a cell phone and he spoke to Rebecca Mullen. She stated that she is the owner of the goats and would fill out a request for prosecution if needed.

Rebecca Mullen stated she estimated the death of one animal and the injury to the other could cost approximately $400 to replace.

The deputy explained to the Mullen’s, that St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office would take the initial report and then forward the incident to the Appleton City Police Department for further investigation.
