Two arrested in Barton County

On June 8th, Deputy Housel made contact with what looked to be an abandoned truck west of 43 Hwy on 126 Hwy. Deputy Housel discovered a male in the driver’s seat slumped over and unconscious. 

After several attempts to wake the subject, Bradley Marshall, he was finally roused. Deputy Housel performed Field Sobriety Tests on Marshall and Marshall was detained and transported to the Barton County Jail where Sgt. Cornell with the Lamar Police Dept performed drug recognition tests on him. At the conclusion of the investigation Marshall was placed under arrest for Driving while Intoxicated.

On June 11th, Deputies Clemons and Nance responded to Gallager Rd in Golden City in reference to a report of someone breaking into the house. When they arrived they found a broken window so they cleared the house. After speaking to the owner and getting suspect information, they identified the suspect as a Stephen Wardin, who was arrested the day prior on a Nevada PD warrant. The deputies then went to the Vernon County Jail to speak with Wardin on the break in. Wardin was released to deputies of the Barton County Sheriff’s Office and was transported back to the Barton County Jail on Burglary Charges.

On June 12th, Deputy Morris responded with Sheriff Shaw to SW 6th Rd for a report of a suspicious person. Two subjects was camping out underneath the overpass. They made contact with two individuals and one subject was identitifed as a Heather Latham, she was arrested on an active warrant out of Nevada Police Department.
