Update: Adrian man killed in Bates County Fatality Accident

On 7/15/18 around 11:30am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Adrian Fire Department, Bates County EMS and the Bates County Sheriff's Office all responded to a three vehicle fatality accident on I-49 just south of Passiac.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 24 year old Kimberly C. Claytor of Butler, Missouri merged into and struck the 2007 Ford F-150 driven by 25 year old Shelby R. Sloan of Neosho, Missouri causing it to spin out of control and through the median. 

The 2000 GMC Sierra driven by 74 year old Gerald R. Gilliland of Adrian, Missouri was attempting to avoid the crash and drove through the median striking both vehicles. Mr. Gilliland was ejected from the vehicle.

Gerald R. Gilliand was transported by ambulance to the Bates County Memorial Hospital were he later died. 

A passenger in the Gilliland vehicle 64 year old William R. Jameson of Adrian, Missouri sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was life flighted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Shelby R. Sloan sustained moderate injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

All three vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.
