Update: Fire rips through Bates County Industries this afternoon

On Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 12:19 p.m. the Butler Fire Department was dispatched to Bates County Industries on TT Highway for a report of a fire inside the building. 

At 12:24 units arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the eaves on the east side of the structure. 

Firefighters forced entry to a door nearby and contained the fire to the corner of the production room. 

At 1:06 p.m. the fire was under control. There was smoke and heat damage to the entire production area and offices. Fire doors closed and prevented damage to the warehouse section of the building. Cause of the fire was accidental in nature. Units were released from the scene at 2:45 p.m. 

Butler Fire received mutual aid assistance from Adrian, Rich Hill, Amsterdam and Central Cass Fire and Bates County Ambulance. 

Per BCI fire plan all workers exited the building, were at corner of the property and all accounted for upon fire department's arrival. There were no injuries
