Just what do weather people know, anyway?

Boom. We went from Summer to frozen pet water bowls, cars that won't start and furnace issues. Not like it just cooled down a little. No, welcome to Siberia.

The TV weather people are basking (no pun intended) in predicting the exact overnight low, like how important is it to be right on the money when it's below freezing anyway?

Most of us old school folks like to rely on the Farmer's Almanac to get the straight skinny, but according to it, we are supposed to be having mild conditions right now (see above).  Now, our definition of mild might be slightly different... OR maybe the ol Almanac just got this one wrong.

Not trusting of just one weather predictor, we Googled the long term Winter forecast for Missouri and got just about every conceivable prediction you can think of- from a cataclysmic super white, cold Winter to "much above" and mild temps for the next four months. It seems like fiction that would make H.G. Wells proud.

One could suppose it doesn't matter. Remember, if you don't like our weather, just wait. It'll change anyway. But if you'd like some good reading while your pipes thaw, here you go:
