Fennewald receives state FFA Degree

 

We would like to congratulate Butler High School Senior Maddox Fennewald who received his State Degree and Area Placement Award tonight in Columbia at State Convention!

FFA has provided such amazing experiences and memories! Keep working hard! We are so proud of you!

Rollover accident claims the life of Nevada man early Saturday morning

On April 20th around 12:33 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Vernon County along with Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident on E. Logan Road just west of Nevada.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the westbound 2014 Chrysler 300 driven by 29 year old Jarrek L. Rankin of Nevada, Missouri traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment, fence and overturned.

Mr. Rankin was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident and a passenger in his vehicle 27 year old Caitlin J. Freeman of Nevada, Missouri was transported by air ambulance to Cox South in Springfield for treatment.

This is Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 25th fatality of the year 2024. Next of kin notified.

Butler Lady Bears Softball Lose To Skyline Lady Tigers in final game of the day

Butler Lady Bears Softball Lose To Skyline Lady Tigers...

Butler could not keep up with Skyline Lady Tigers 6-3 on Friday. Butler Bears opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run. Aiva Ford grounded out, which helped Skyline Lady Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. 

Skyline took the lead in the bottom of the third. An error scored one run, to give Skyline Lady Tigers the advantage, 2-1. 

Avery Eldred pitched three innings in relief for Butler Bears. The reliever gave up six hits and five runs (four earned) while, striking out three and walking none. 

Kylee Dubray started in the circle for Butler Bears. The righty gave up zero hits and one run (zero earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking three.

Haven Humphrey drove the middle of the lineup, leading Butler Bears with two runs batted in. They went 1-for-2 on the day. 

Dubray and Humphrey were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Butler Bears. Taylor Hudson paced Butler Bears with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game.

Butler Bears welcome Buffalo Bison on Monday for their next game.

Records are made to be broken

We would like to congratulate Harrisonville High School Sophomore Paige Cribbs broke the HHS javelin record with a throw of 129' 2" at Pitt State this week. Way to go Paige!

A ground out by Kiya Inman put The Lady Orioles on the board in the bottom of the first. Concordia added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Olivia Hemme tripled, and Addison Roepe hit an inside the park home run, each scoring two runs. 

Concordia added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Katie King grounded out, and Butler Bears committed an error, each scoring one run.

Kylee Dubray stepped in the circle first for Butler Bears. The righty gave up five hits and 11 runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out none and walking three. 

Inman started the game for the Concordia Lady Orioles. The left-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking two. 

Sydney Davis, Gabbie Carmichael, Cloey Fritts, Dubray, Alex Trudell, and Ella Buckner each collected one hit for Butler Bears. Fritts, Dubray, Trudell, and Buckner each drove in one run for Butler Bears.

Inman provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Concordia Varsity Orioles with three runs batted in. 

The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Ava Mueller and Hemme each collected two hits for Concordia Varsity Orioles.










Scam alert from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a scam. The caller is telling people that they need to pay our Office because they have warrants.

We would like to remind everyone that the Cass County Courts or Sheriff's Office will never call you and ask for money over the phone. 

If you receive a suspicious call contact your local law enforcement.
