Keep your eyes open for a 1995 dark green Dodge 1500 single cab short bed pickup shown here, stolen from the parking lot at Butler Walmart this morning around 10:26 am.

If seen, please call the Butler police department, the Bates county sheriff's office or dial 911.

Hume Community News November 7, 2016

Don’t forget the Deer Hunter’s Breakfast on Saturday, November 12 from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Hume Legion Hall. Come by and enjoy biscuits and gravy. All proceeds go to the Hume Alliance Ministry Food Pantry. The distribution for the food pantry will be the third Saturday of the month, November 19th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

The community of Hume wishes to extend their sympathy to the family of Charles Swink of rural Hume. /Stotesbury. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The Lord’s Acre Day BBQ and Auction was well attended. The delicious sandwiches and desserts were enjoyed. The afternoon was topped off with a lively auction that was a lot of fun!

Paxton Wooldridge, grandson of Everett and Karen Irwin celebrated his 7th birthday on Sunday, November 6 at Iguana in Nevada with lots of family who enjoyed the evening. He received lots of presents and enjoyed cake and brownies.

The 050 Club will meet November 21 at noon for a Thanksgiving Meal. Everyone is invited to enjoy in a delicious meal at the Hume Community Center. During the winter months we will be meeting once a month on the 3rd Monday at noon at the Hume Community Center.

Obituary - Darryl Vincent Stuhlman

Darryl Vincent Stuhlman, age 66, Parker, Kansas passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016. 

The rosary will be prayed at 11 am Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30 am. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. The family suggests contributions to the St Philippine Memorial Park in care of Schneider Funeral Home, P.O. Box J, Mound City, Kansas 66056.

Eldorado Springs man arrested in Cedar County

On 11/7/16 around  4:03pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cedar County arrested 27 year old Zachary J. Guenther of Eldorado Springs, Missouri.

Mr. Guenther was arrested for 1.) Driving While Intoxicated.

He was booked into the Cedar County Jail in Stockton, Missouri and placed on a 24 hour hold.

Updated Obituary - Vernon Dale Richardson

Vernon Dale Richardson
Vernon Dale Richardson, 93, of Archie, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri with visitation from 9:30-10:30. Inurnment will be in Glenwild Cemetery in Cleveland, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Serenity Care Hospice, 1626 E. Elm, Harrisonville, MO 64701.

Vernon was born August 9, 1923 in West Line, MO, the son of Herbert E. and Opal (Spears) Richardson. He was a 1941 graduate of Freeman High School. Vernon was an Army veteran in WWII, in active duty in the 33rd Armored Regiment, stationed in England, Belgium, and Germany from 1943 to 1945. He was awarded four bronze stars for battles and campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe, and a purple heart for injuries received in Germany, on March 5, 1945, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He married Ruby Prettyman of Freeman, Missouri on December 20, 1946, and then raised a family in Independence, MO. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. He retired from working as a diesel mechanic on heavy construction equipment for the Operating Engineers Local 101, and eventually moved to Archie, Missouri.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert E. Richardson and Opal (Spears) Spielbusch, his brothers Glen, Harold and Ronald, and his sister Rosalea Pennington. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruby (Prettyman) Richardson, of the home; his daughters, Monna Maring, Archie, MO and Beverly Ekstrand, Clinton, MO; his son, Kenny Richardson and wife Debi, Deepwater, MO; a sister, Joyce Farr-Hart, Dickinson, TX, four grandsons, Kevin Ekstrand (Dawn), Mark Ekstrand (Korene), Derek Maring (Amber), Corey Maring and six great-grandchildren.

Butler woman arrested in Cass County

On 11/7/16 around 12:08pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County arrested 23 year old Kodi K. Tyner of Butler, Missouri.

She was arrested for 1.) Felony Possession of Methamphetamine 2.) Felony Possession of Synthetic Narcotics 3.) Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana 4.) Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia 5.) Failure to register a motor vehicle.

Kodi K. Tyner was processed at the Peculiar Police Department and later released.
