Obituary - Emily Wagner

Emily “Roberta” Wagner, 93, Nevada, MO passed away at her rural Nevada home on Friday, September 12, 2025.   Roberta was born in Walker, Missouri, on April 1, 1932, to Joseph and Anna Alene (Whitley) Zaring.  She married John “Jack” Wagner on November 7, 1974 in Anchorage, Alaska and he preceded her in death  on June 14, 2007. 

    Roberta was raised in Vernon County and attended Nevada High School.   She lived in Anchorage, AK from 1967-1978.   She worked at the Nevada Habilitation Center from 1987 until her retirement in 1997.  She also worked at the 54 CafĂ© for a number of years.   She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Nevada.  Roberta loved to travel.  She loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  She will be missed by her many family, friends and neighbors.

    Roberta is survived by her children, Jim Hardin (Ronda), Nevada, MO, Jerry Hardin (Amanda), Arizona City, AZ,  Bill Hardin (Marci), Nevada, MO, John Hardin, Aurora, MO, Jana Hardin, Anchorage, AK; daughter-in-law, Barb Hardin, state of AZ; 16 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

    In addition to her husband, Jack, Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Jeremy John Hardin.

     Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025 in Mt. Vernon Cemetery,  Walker, MO with Johannes Brann officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17 at Ferry Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Obituary - Shirley Dillion

Shirley E. Dillon, 95, of Archie, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Foxwood Springs in Raymore, MO. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Silent Unity, 1901 NW Blue Pkwy, Unity Village, MO 64065.

Shirley was born in Alliance, Nebraska, on October 2, 1929, to Herman and Viola (Merrill) Bartels. She graduated from Alliance High School and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for two years. She married David L. Dillon and together they had a daughter and two sons. Shirley taught school for a total of 6 years. She retired from Unity World Headquarters in Unity Village, MO, in 1998 after having been employed in their print shop as a supervisor for over 35 years.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Harold Bartels, Glen Bartels, Lowell Bartels, and Dwain Bartels. She is survived by her children: Francis Dillon, Jim Dillon, and Kathy Dillon; grandchildren: Kevin (Kim) Dillon, Cheri (Rodney) Johnson, Tyler Dillon; great-grandchildren: Noelle and Parker Johnson, Crosby Dillon, Daniel Fugitt, Brendahl, Gabe and Adalynn Dillon; Richard and Rebecca Madden and their daughter, Rachel Madden, and her son, Owen Williams. She is blessed with many relatives and friends.

Obituary - Evelena Jones

Evelena Viola Jones 72, of Neck City, Missouri passed away September 9, 2025 at her home in Neck City. Cremation with memorial services to be held at a later date. Evelena Viola Jones was born August 15, 1953 in Clinton, Missouri, the daughter of Charlie Raymond and Mary Isabel Ridgeway Shenthen. She was united in marriage to Eugene “Outlaw” Jones on June 23, 1971. They were married for 54 years before his passing.

Viola and Eugene loved to go out dancing and enjoyed all types of music over the years as well as card games. Viola was a beautiful soul and never seen without a smile. Anyone that knew her, knew right away that her she had a heart of gold and her hospitality and love for friends and family were unmatched and will never be forgotten.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene “Outlaw” Jones, her two sisters, Dolores Farrell, and Karen Julian, three sisters-in-law, Judy Moreland, Kay Davis, and Peggy Styron, as well as her fur babies Patches and Sandi.

She is survived by her brothers, Charles Shenthen and Art Schenthen along with his significant other Sheri, and by her sister Evelyn Dhen, brother-in-law Larry Jones, sister-in-law Carlolyn Ralston, and several nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

Semi rollover on AA highway

Butler and Adrian fire departments along with the highway patrol are on the scene of a semi truck rollover requiring extrication of the driver on AA highway near CR 1001.

 Harry Lee Yoder of Harrisonville, Missouri departed this life Thursday September 11, 2025 at Silverrado of Lees Summit in Lees Summit, Missouri. 

Cremation with a celebration of life visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri.

Obituary - Romie Curtis Thompson

Romie Curtis Thompson departed this life on September 11th, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Romie was born on July 22nd, 1954, in Kansas City, Kansas. At a young age his family moved to Harrisonville, Missouri where he resided and raised his family.

Romie was a man of many trades but made his profession starting with his late brother-in-law Bob Eisel as a dry wall finisher and later joined the union and worked for PCI until he retired. Although he retired, he continued to help many family members and friends with any dry wall needs right up until he couldn't work anymore.

Romie was a lover of anything outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, garden and support his family in any way that he could. He was a proud dad and grandpa and one of his favorite things to do was follow his grandchildren in their sports and rarely missed a game.

He is survived by his wife Lisa Thompson of the home, daughter Emilee Cumpton (Chancey), sons Henry Thompson (Mindy), Curtis Thompson (Brenda), Jacob Thompson (Shelby), Chance Thompson (Sam), and Andrew Thomspon. His grandchildren, Emma and Elisabeth Thompson, Tanner and Abigail Thompson, Jaxon Thompson, Stevie Cumpton, Oliver, Caden and Leah O’Shea and bonus grandchildren Presley, Shelby and Kaitlyn Newport. His siblings Jim Thompson (Karma), Jo Ann Huskey, Lois Gray (Jerry), Kay Eisel and Valerie Thompson. Along with sister in laws, brother in laws, many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Clara Thompson, brothers John and Steve Thompson, sisters Edna Cunningham and Eva Snider and brother in laws Jim Huskey and Bob Eisel.

He left behind a legacy that will continue to live on through his kids and grandkids.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, at the Archie Community building.
