In a case allegedly triggered by a theft of beer and moonshine, two Cass County brothers were charged Monday with kidnapping two teenagers. Eric A. Morgan, 32, faces two counts of kidnapping and one count each of armed criminal action and assault.Shawn D. Morgan, 36, is charged with two counts of kidnapping and armed criminal action.
According to court documents, the victims, both male, told authorities that the two Morgan brothers held them against their will for three hours late Friday in an outbuilding at a residence in rural Archie, Mo. The victims said they had gone to the property to borrow a tool to repair a pickup.
Once there, the defendents accused the two of breaking in and stealing liquor from them. One victim said he was held in a headlock and a gun was put to his side. Both victims said Eric Morgan fired a handgun toward one of them.
