HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE Monday, May 13, 2013

Charges filed on former Corrections Officer

According to Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrom former Corrections Officer Devin C. Williams has been charged in Henry County and Audrain County, Missouri concerning allegations that he paid “hush money” to former female inmates in an attempt to cover up an alleged incident that he fondled a female prisoner during a March 2012 transport to the women’s prison in Vandalia, Missouri.

Williams, who resigned his position in June of 2012 on an un-related incident, was later questioned concerning the allegations in which he is currently charged. Those allegations were reported to a different transport officer in August 2012 by the female inmate when she was being returned to Henry County for a different court case. Williams had worked at the Detention Center for about four months.

When that information was reported, Jail Administrator Jason Shackles and Detective Mike Nelson began an investigation into the matter which has lead to the charges against Williams. Williams is scheduled for a court appearance on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Henry County Associate Court.
