Man arrested for cutting woman’s throat:

A warrant for first degree domestic assault with serious physical injury, and armed criminal action has been issued for Arren Lee McDermott, 33, of Nevada. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, McDermott was arrested Friday afternoon after Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on county road 1200. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, McDermott is believed to have assaulted a female in the residence, cutting her throat multiple times, as well as multiple cuts to her face, chest, and back. The female victim was transported to a staging area near Deerfield by EMS where she was then transported by helicopter to Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Sheriff Mosher would not release the name of the victim but said she was in stable condition.

The Sheriff said Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office were called out to process the crime scene shortly after deputies arrived on scene, and a victim’s advocate from the Moss House in Nevada was also contacted late Friday night to offer assistance to the victim. McDermott is being held in the Vernon County Jail on $250,000 cash only bond that was issued by the 28th Judicial Circuit Court early Saturday morning.
