Nancy D. Coffey, 81, Nevada, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at her home in Nevada. Nancy was born April 1, 1935 to Elwood J. and Jennie (Wiles) Thorpe in Kansas City, MO. She was united in marriage to Leonard J. Coffey on March 18, 1959 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2005 Nancy moved to Vernon County at a young age. She attended school in Metz and graduated with the Class of 1953. Nancy was employed by Spencer and Hatch in Nevada for 24 years until her retirement in 1994. In 1986 she moved to the Nevada area where she has continued to reside. Nancy was a longtime member of Rinehart Christian Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, dining out, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, William D. Jacks, Jr. (Barbara), Nevada, and Michael James Coffey (Dana), Inola, OK; one daughter, Lynette R. Felber, Overland Park, KS; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Pointer, Kansas City, MO; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Leonard, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Daniel Allen Jacks; one grandson, Lindsey Cunningham; siblings, Jack Thorpe, Joanne Mehrhoff, Myra Booras, Tom Thorpe, John Thorpe, and Jimmy Thorpe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Ricky Walles officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
