Updated Obituary - Theodore Lee DeLozier

Theodore Lee DeLozier
Theodore Lee DeLozier, age 73, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Brunswick Nursing Home, Brunswick, Missouri. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Vansant-Mills Funeral Chapel, Clinton, Missouri. 

Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. prior to funeral service. Interment will be in the Tebo Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held 2:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Sherry's Home Cooking in Brunswick, Missouri. Family suggests memorial contributions to Deepwater Baptist Church Youth or Tebo Cemetery and can be left in care of funeral home. Ted was born August 4, 1943 in Pasadena, California, the second child to Theodore G. DeLozier and Opal N. Brown DeLozier. Ted grew up in Deepwater, Missouri and lived with his grandparents, Walter Everette and Leah Eunice Brown. As a youth he attended the Deepwater Public Schools for 8 years and belonged to the Deepwater Boy Scout Troop 432. Ted went on to become a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and served as an adult leader for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Ted married Sylvia Jean Moore on October 31, 1963 and was blessed with two children, Deborah "Debbie" Jean and Anthony "Tony" Gray.

Ted attended Career School of Real Estate in Springfield, Missouri and enjoyed himself as a Missouri Real Estate Broker with Strout Realty and Ted DeLozier Real Estate. He founded Lakeside Electric in Deepwater and rebuilt alternators, starters and generators. He then worked for Furniture House at Butler, Missouri for many years. He was also a certified Ford Technician under the direction of Mid-Way Ford of Kansas City and Friendly Ford of Springfield. Some of the other places Ted worked include Santa Fe International Builders Company in the oil fields, Knox Construction of Grand Island, PAR Electric North Kansas City and Howard Construction.

Ted was an active square dancer for many years and was a member of MO-KAN Singles of Nevada, Tanglefoot Square of Brookfield, Single Promenaders of Kansas City, MO., and the Heart of America Single Square Dance Association.

Ted's greatest love was farming and gardening. He farmed in Hickory, Benton and Morgan Counties. He loved sharing the garden "goodies" with everyone he could.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Ted is survived by a special friend of the home, Pam Tietjens and his beloved dog, Toby; 2 children, Debbie Dody, Clinton, Missouri and Tony DeLozier, Osceola, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, Nathaniel (Tonya) Dody, Clinton, Missouri, Dakota (Janiece) DeLozier, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and A.J. DeLozier, Independence, Missouri; 2 great grandchildren, Hayden Dody and Gabriel DeLozier; 2 siblings, William "Bill" DeLozier, Deepwater, Missouri and Betty (Kerwin) Hafner, Ocala, Florida; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
