Marilyn was born July 30, 1935, the youngest daughter of George Benjamin and Daisy Ladine Williams Vail . Her childhood years were spent on a farm 8 miles southeast of LaCygne, Ks. She graduated from LaCygne Rural High School in June of 1953.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Clifford Strode on June 14, 1953, to this union two children were born, Vicki Lee and Terry Lynn. Marilyn was a member and baptized at Maywood Community Church in Kansas City, Ks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, half sister, Vera Apperson. Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Forbes and husband Kenneth, son, Terry Strode, and wife, Sharon, sister, Freda Teague, granddaughter, Jamie Urton, and husband, Zack, grandson, Adam Strode, three nephews, John Harrison, and wife, Doris, Paul Teague, Ron Teague, and wife Vanessa, niece Ruth Overton, and great granddaughter, Florence Urton.
