Update Butler man injured in accident North of Passaic

On 6/10/17 around 12:03pm the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Adrian Fire Department and Bates County EMS responded to a three vehicle accident around 1 mile North of Passaic on I-49 at Mile Marker 137.6.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1989 Oldsmobile driven by 93 year old Jesse F. Smith of Butler, Missouri was traveling Northbound in the Southbound Lane of I-49. 

A 2001 Honda driven by 32 year old Whitney L. Cook of Shawnee, Kansas attempted to avoid Mr. Smith's vehicle when he traveled into the path and was struck by a 2014 Volvo tractor trailer driven by 50 year old Tracy R. Wykert of Independence, Missouri.

Jesse F. Smith sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital then onto Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.

Mr. Cook sustained minor injures in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Two vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.
