Nevada woman arrested during drug investigation

In the evening hours of Sunday, July 9th Nevada Police observed a known female subject trespassing on a business lot in the 1900 block of East Austin Blvd.

Nevada Officers had obtained information that the subject in question was involved in the distribution of illegal narcotics. 

Two Nevada police detectives contacted the female subject on the property in question. During the contact, it was discovered the female subject was being supervised by the Department of Corrections, Probation & Parole Division for a prior drug related offense.

During the course of the encounter, the female suspect attempted to discard drug evidence and then attempted to flee from law enforcement officials. A physical altercation ensued and the female was taken into custody. One police detective sustained minor injuries while attempting to take custody of the female suspect.

Officers located and seized suspected methamphetamine that the suspect attempted to discard.

The suspect taken into custody by Nevada Police was identified as April R. Hancock, age 31 of Nevada. She was transferred to the Vernon County Jail for holding.

On Monday, July 10, 2017 the Vernon County Associate Court filed the following charges against Hancock;

Delivery of Controlled Substance, Felony C
Resisting Arrest for a Felony, Felony E

Hancock is being held in the Vernon County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash only bond.
