Obituary - Carl Preston Ward

Carl Preston Ward, 67, formerly of Sheldon, MO passed away on Thursday December 14, 2017 at his home in Nevada, Missouri. Carl was born August 27, 1950 in Sacramento, California to Harrison Ward and Clarita Ward.

Carl, the fourth of six sons and two sisters was raised in Sacramento CA., then moved to Sheldon Mo. and attended school there. Carl had a passion for art and music. He was the artist for the school paper and played the guitar for a while. He served in the United States Airforce and soul-searched with the Beatles, Heart, Doors, and 300+ record albums. Carl was a gentle soul and walked his own path with his own drums. He settled down in Nevada and formed a new set of friends when he volunteered at the Community Outreach. His favored clothing was sweat suits and walked to work every day. Carl enjoyed laughing and had a great sense of humor.

Carl had no children. Survivors include three brothers, Alfredo Perez and his wife Donna, Prairie Village, KS, Harrison Ward, Jr. and his wife Lee Ann, Rogers, AR, two sisters, Betty Hedman, Smicksburg, PA, Frank Ward, Rogers, AR, Mary Hickson and her husband Rick, Decatur, AR; numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, Albert Ward and Robert Ward precede Carl in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
