Obituary - Lester Eugene Price

Lester Eugene Price, a WWII Navy Veteran passed away December 12, 2017 at home with his wife by his side. Gene was born in Union Star, Missouri in 1927 to Lester and Ruth Price. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served his country as Aviation Radio Gunnery. On November 27, 1947, he married Betty Jean Nold. To this union two children were born, Peggy Jean and Lester Leon.

Gene was a well loved man. He was a newspaper editor, he owned the Burlington Junction newspaper, he worked in sales, and when he moved to Clinton, he owned and operated Price Sign Company until he retired and turned the family business over to his son Leon.

Gene loved the Boy Scouts and besides being a scout master, he was a member of the Order Mic-o-say. He loved the outdoors and especially loved to go Elk Hunting the Colorado as long as his health permitted.

Gene was a member of the American Legion, 40 & 8 and the Masonic Lodge.

On August 13, 2011 he married Shirley Ann Manning, who survives. Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, and his parents and a step daughter, Barbara Mosier.

Besides his wife, Shirley, Gene is survived by his daughter, Peggy (Rex) Younger, Clearmont, MO; his son Leon (Carrie) Price, Clinton; his step children, Margaret Waddell, John Waddell and Rebecca (Kyle) Grant; his gradsons Kris (Amy) Younger and Kyle (Alyssa) Younger, Landes Price and Mattheau Price and step grandchildren Westley (Courtney) Grant, Hanna Satterwhite, Scarlett Waddell, Natalie Waddell, Hayden Grant, Tevor Mosier, Meredith Grant and Ian Mosier; 6 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; and a brother and sister in law Leroy and Norma Grimsley and Harold and Mary Nold. Many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two very special friends, Jim and Jackie Cook, Clinton.

Gene will be missed by all who knew him. He had a way of stealing your heart.

Visitation will be at Vansant-Mills Funeral Home on December 17 from 4-6 PM with burial and Military Graveside services in Savannah, MO at the Savannah Cemetery on December 18 at 11 AM

Friends can leave memorial to the Boy Scouts Troop #430 or to the family.
