Two people arrested
after search warrant served in Nevada
Two people were booked into the Vernon County Jail Tuesday
afternoon on charges stemming from a search warrant that was served on north
Oak St. in Nevada last month. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said James C
Sorden, 39 of Nevada and Christy D Sorden, 30 of Nevada have been arrested on
charges of possession of a controlled substance and keeping and maintain a
public nuisance. The Sheriff said his office, members of the CNET Drug task
force and officers from the Nevada Police Department served a search warrant at
a residence on N Oak Street and found evidence that a meth lab had recently
been in the house. Methamphetamines were also recovered from the residence
during the search. “We found a good amount of methamphetamines in the house,
but both residents had fled from the house before we served the warrant” said
the Sheriff. Vernon County Prosecuting Attorney Lynn Ewing III filed charges
after the investigation was complete and warrants for both James and Christy
Sorden were issued. Christy Sorden was found in Branson and transported back to
Vernon County Tuesday evening, and James Sorden was arrested by a Vernon County
Deputy and a Nevada Police Officer late Tuesday night at a residence in
Nevada. Sheriff Mosher said the cooperation
between the Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Police Department is a contributing
factor with the amount of drug arrests that has been made. “Both agencies are
working together and it’s making a difference” said the Sheriff.
