Disturbance leads to arrest in Rich Hill

On December 17, 2015, Deputies were dispatched to Rich Hill to assist the Rich Hill Police Department on a disturbance call. Deputies were advised that on the arrival of the Rich Hill Officer a male subject had fled the scene on a yellow four wheeler. Once on scene Deputies were advised the reporting party did not want to pursue charges.

A short time later Sheriff Anderson observed the male subject riding the four wheeler down the street. When Sheriff Anderson attempted to make contact with the subject he began darting down several streets in an attempt to avoid contact. The four wheeler and the subject were found behind a house on 2nd and Pine Street. When Sheriff Anderson attempted to make contact with the subject behind the house the subject took off running on foot. After a short foot pursuit the Sheriff was able to catch him in the street where he scuffled with him until the Detectives assisted in taking him into custody. During the foot pursuit the subject was observed throwing a knife and cigarette package.


The Subject was identified as James  Mattingley of Archie, Missouri. Mr. Mattingley was transported to the Bates County Jail where he was booked in on the following warrants:
2 counts of Driving While Revoked,
1 count of Failing to pay Child Support,
1 count of Possession of a Dangerous Drugs,
1 count of 1st Degree Burglary,
1 count of 2nd Degree Felony Assault.

Mr. Mattingley’s Bonds totaled $55,000.00. Mr. Mattingley may also be facing additional charges of Resisting Arrest and Possession of a Control Substance.
