Deepwater woman arrested for possession of a controlled substance

On Aug. 12, Melissa Hodge, 48, Deepwater, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with class C felony possession of a controlled substance, class A misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and a class A misdemeanor of possession of marijuana. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

The charge stems from a sheriff’s office investigation the same day when a deputy was on patrol and noticed an unoccupied vehicle on the side of NE Highway C. A check of the registration discovered it did not check to the vehicle. 

During the investigation a bag containing a white crystal substance and a glass pipe were located in the vehicle. Both items field tested positive for methamphetamine. A small amount of marijuana was also located during the investigation.
