Update: Shooting investigation in Lockwood, Missouri

The Dade County Sheriff Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are investigating a shooting at a business near the Lockwood, Missouri High School around 7:30am this morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the Sheriff's office requested the Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control help with the investigation.

The shooting was at Prairie Mountain Screening on W. 4th Street. Sgt. John Lueckenhoff with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says at least two people were transported to hospitals with injuries.

Their names and extent of injuries were not being released at the time. Sgt. Lueckenhoff also confirmed one person was taken into custody.

Sgt. Luekenhoff says the incident began when the suspect, believed to be in his early 20's, opened fire on a car that was going west on Highway 160 at Dade County Road 81. The car was hit, but the driver was not.

The shooter followed the driver to Prairie Mountain Screening, and shot his way inside. One man and one woman were shot but the driver of the vehicle was not one of the shooting victims.

Both shooting victims were believed to be in serious, but stable condition at this time.

The shooting suspect then fled the business and was arrested a few minutes later at his home in Lockwood. He did not put up any resistance and was taken into custody without incident.

"It was not random. There was some intent here. What that exact intent was, we don't know at this point." said Sgt. Lueckenhoff.

The shooting investigation is ongoing and we will have a update from the Missouri State Highway patrol when it's made available to us.
