Funeral services for Terry McGuire will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial in Virginia Cemetery, Virginia, Missouri. Contributions to Leukemia Society.

Terry Gene McGuire, age 74 of Butler, Missouri died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born December 31, 1941 to Teddy Warren and DeEtta Maye Maloney McGuire in Kansas City, Kansas.

Terry, also known as “Haywire,” was a lifelong resident of Butler. He attended Belmont Grade School and graduated from Butler High School in 1959. On March 25, 1961 he was united in marriage to Patricia Fritts and to this union four children were born. Terry was the owner/operator of T.M. Hay Enterprises, custom hay operation. In his younger years, he worked on a traveling wheat harvest crew and as a mechanic at Kahn Chevrolet. He served as the trustee of Charlotte township and president of the Public Water Supply District #4. He was a founding member of the Virginia Mission Church where he attended every Sunday.

Terry was a hard worker, ornery, fun-loving, and had a heart of gold and loved his family--especially the little ones. He enjoyed visiting, eating family dinners and riding motorcycles. Terry volunteered in 4-H where he helped as small engine leader. He was a member of the Democratic committee and trustee and sexton of the Virginia Cemetery Association.

Terry is survived by his wife Pat McGuire of Butler, Missouri; three sons, Jim McGuire and wife Terry of Harrisonville, Missouri, Shannon McGuire and wife Lynell of Butler, Missouri and Greg McGuire and wife Rita of Schell City, Missouri; one daughter, Kathy Knapp and husband Mike of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two brothers, David McGuire and wife B.J. of Ferris, Texas and Teddy Joe McGuire and wife Megan of Boonville, Missouri; two sisters, Diane Beatty of Butler, Missouri and Debbie Geiser of Marshall, Missouri; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sam McGuire and Dennis McGuire.
