Vehicle Fire in Passaic area of Bates County

On September 16, 2016 Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Business 49. The reporting party had advised Dispatch that the vehicle’s owner stated that he was going to set the vehicle on fire. He then lit the vehicle on fire and walked away.

Once Deputies arrived on the scene, they found a Chevrolet SUV that the front end of was completely engulfed with flames. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Butler Fire Department then arrived on scene. After canvassing the area the vehicle’s owner was located on F Highway.

The vehicle’s owner was placed in handcuffs and transported to the Bates County Jail. We are expecting charges to be filed on him at a later date.
