The Butler Chamber of Commerce’s annual contest for Little Miss Snowflake and Little Jack Frost began this week, reported Lee Anna Schowengerdt, executive director. Six candidates are currently signed up.
“We’re happy with the renewed interest in this contest,” Schowengerdt stated. “Last year we didn’t have any candidates, and this year we have more than we’ve ever had, to my knowledge, right from the start.”
You might meet the candidates as they have already picked up Bargain Books to sell. The winner is selected based solely on Chamber Bargain Book sales, selling at $5 each.
Candidates for Little Jack Frost are:

Chamber Bargain Books are full of coupons for local businesses. Most of the coupons are valid for an entire year.
“This contest is one of my favorites for the Chamber,” Schowengerdt said. “It’s good for the kids, and it encourages local shopping. Each candidate keeps 10% of his or her sales, and the winner will ride beside Santa in his sleigh when he rides into Butler for the Christmas parade. All of the other candidates may ride on the sleigh as well.”

Winners will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5:00 p.m. prior to the parade. Each candidate will be given a check at that time for their percentage of their sales. In the event of a tie, interviews will be held.
There is no deadline, or fee, to sign up for the Little Miss & Mr. contest. Candidates must be ages 4-8 years old. Bargain books are assigned 50 at a time. Sale proceeds are due by Friday, Dec. 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chamber Office, 15 N. Main, Butler Square. Call the Chamber office for more information at 660-679-3380.
