Susan A. Goodnight, 67, of Deepwater, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home on Monday October 31, 2016. She was born August 1, 1949 at Ellett Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Fessler) Brownsberger of Montrose, Missouri. On June 3, 1967 she married Glen Goodnight and to this union three children were born: Trent, Brad, and Dana.

Susan graduated from Montrose High School in 1967, then attended the University of Southern Illinois in Edwardsville, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. After graduation she taught school for 20 years, retiring in 2013.

Susie had a beautiful smile and she spent her life making other people feel good. Her friends and family always knew how deeply she cared about them. One of the great pleasures of her life was teaching children to read. Apart from giving the gift of learning, Susan herself enjoyed reading avidly. She was also an excellent cook and an especially talented baker, never using a recipe. In her retirement Susan dearly loved the rural landscape and fall colors of the Deepwater area. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mary Brownsberger; and her brother John (Jackie) Brownsberger.

She is survived by her husband, Glen; three children: Trent (Angie) Goodnight of Hudson, IA, Brad (Jodi), Goodnight of Freeburg, IL, and Dana (Andres’) Jaramillo of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren: Cassie (Mike), Austin, Grant, Gavin, and Sebastian; one sister: Mary Kathrine (Tom) Coffey of Wausau, WI; and one brother: Sam (Donna) Brownsberger of Montrose, MO, and many other relatives and friends.
