The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2011 Dodge driven by 68 year old Shirley A. Phillips of Montrose, Missouri crossed the center line of the roadway and ran off the left side striking a ditch. The vehicle then went airborne traveling through two fences, down a embankment and striking a ditch.
Shirley A. Phillips sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital and later St. Lukes Hospital in downtown Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.
The vehicle sustained extensive damages and was towed from the scene by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri.
